Here is a first look on my costume updates! I am working on a costume for Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA and below are listed on what I have so far. I am working on 3 different costumes. This picture is from Deviantart's artist--KasaPH. I just thought I'd use her as an inspiration to my first costume.
Here are materials that I used and pictures of the progress!
Materials you need to get started on cosplay:
-Worbla or craft foam
-Heat gun
-Soldering iron
-Glue gun
-Sculpting tools (If your using worbla)
-Cutter/Blade
-Black Marker
-Paint
-Leather straps
-Masking tape (For patterns)
-Pencil
-Really good pair of scissors
-Plastic wrap (For patterns)
-Gesso
Okay so Cosplay was definitely NOT a cheap start out. But it was sooo worth the wait to get everything together before I got started. Almost everything I got was from ebay and Michaels. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Michaels because of their expensive prices. As much as possible, I would love for you to find a cheaper art store alternative, which I am currently looking for!
And with that being said, all you need is the idea for your armor and you are all set. Now, if you are investing on tools for cosplay, you should invest on the time to actually learn and research more about the basics. Like How to work with worbla, or how to make armor patterns.. These things have helped me so much and have made my life so much easier. I was scared to use these equipments at first. I can honestly say that I have spent initially $300, if not more on gathering tools to make armor cosplay. But once I got all my stuff together, I was really happy of the turn out.
